Fly Day! Cusco - Lima - Quito, Ecuador

March 1, 2015 already! Hopefully this makes it to the top of the blog....aaaand we are up to date!

Had a minor incident last night while looking for a restaurant. It was dark and we were just walking along the sidewalk when, in the opposite direction, staggered a drunk. As we watched him approaching we noticed that he carried a new spade over his shoulder. When we were within about 5 feet he started to yell and swing it at us in a chopping motion, like something out of a movie almost. We scattered in different directions and another passerby helped to grab the shovel. A split-second thing that could have gone so wrong....

One other night we alerted a local officer to a garbage can on fire. She just brushed it off and kept walking....different strokes...

This morning we were dropped off to the Cusco airport for our mid-morning flight to Lima. We have another flight tonight which will take us to Quito, Ecuador where we have a hotel for two nights and plans in the works for Galapogos and the Amazon jungle! We're winging it a bit but it will all come together. It usually does.

The guy who organized our Peru portion of this adventure is Oscar Luis Herrera Peceros and he did an oustanding job. We flew with him to Lima this morning and said goodbye as he carried on with another group.

Our plans include Galapogos and the Amazon jungle (monkeys!) over the next few weeks as well as a few weeks of R and R along the coast in Ecuador somewhere. It's far too early to book these things!

Arrived at hotel about 3 am....looking forward to sleep. Here's the view this morning.

Every trip is an adventure after all!
